Branch Application Request

Structure

Individual branches in the Dystopia Rising Live network of games have licensing agreements with the company Larp License LLC. Larp License LLC has a non-exclusive licensing agreement for the larp rights for Dystopia Rising Live which is a trademark of Michael Pucci and content copyright of Most Improbable LLC.

Larp License LLC company serves as a licensing entity for the Dystopia Rising Live Action Role-Playing (LARP) materials. These materials include permissions for the use of the intellectual property associated with the Dystopia Rising universe, and a broad range of elements such as game mechanics, narrative content, characters, database tools, and thematic elements unique to the Dystopia Rising world.

The company holds the rights to these elements and allows other organizations or individuals, typically LARP event organizers or gaming companies, to use them in their own events or products as individual businesses.

In this arrangement, licensees who wish to create branches in the Dystopia Rising universe enter into agreements with the licensing company. This agreement includes a $2,000 yearly licensing fee and a $5 per ticket royalty fee from the revenue generated from events or products that use the Dystopia Rising materials.

The licensing company:

  • Works to make sure there is consistency of the Dystopia Rising Live brand across various platforms and events to allow participants to travel between events without a big disconnect

  • Works with outside companies on a contract basis to create new materials for the Dystopia Rising Live universe

  • Maintains the database, creates new content, and creates support materials.

  • Holds quarterly meetings for development discussions and publishes these discussions for public review.

The people that license these materials, in turn:

  • Maintain their local communities and businesses.

  • Hire and manage their own employees as individual businesses.

  • Uphold their contractual obligations to the licensing company, including ensuring all payments are made on time to the licensing company and remaining within the scope of their license.

  • Ensure all narratives created for their game are within the scope of genre, follow rules as written, and are limited to the play space of the county they register their game in.

  • May have 2 representatives that are part of the Advisory board, which meets quarterly.

ORganization

All branches that have an active license agreement and are up to date with their dues are members of an advisory board. This advisory board meets once a quarter. These meetings are recorded and made public for transparency and accountability. Prior to each quarterly meeting, branches can submit subjects to be discussed at the meetings. Player names and identifiable aspects of the concerns will be removed for the privacy of those involved.

Owners have the ability to have a total of two (2) people present at these meetings. We suggest that each branch have an owner present, but in the instance they cannot be in attendance, a second can be named to speak on behalf of the interests of their company. The second participant can be another owner, a director, or a player.

Since the people filling these positions change regularly based on their time and availability, we’re simply stating the various roles. Keep in mind this is a very small team that handles advising owners and working with the IP and licensing rather than the day-to-day operations of your local branches. If you have questions regarding day-to-day operations, we recommend you reach out to one of the local branches near you.
