Network Advisory Board meeting 2024 q4

Keynotes

  • Owners have had access to the online rules for review for a week now. It will be posted public soon.

  • All promised content will be published before the end of December.

  • Transition Into Live

    • Items that Owners should have already talked to their teams about

      • No custom mechanics. None. This is something from discussions from 8 months ago and should have been discussed already.

      • Games have oversight of a single county, and all narrative content is restricted to that county. This was part of the discussion from 8 months ago.

      • Games can not change aspects of player characters like “Lineage” as part of a mechanic set. Changing aspects of character sheets isn’t allowed.

      • Blueprints will be transparent and visible to all on the database. Database printing document what login printed it, what game they are from, and what date and time it was printed on.

    • We have to own what has happened in the past, but at the same time, we now need to build forward. Efforts have been huge for transparency and communication, but its now time that branches need to step up to actually run a better experience. We need to work with our players to make better experiences that makes new players to WANT to come to this community.

    • This is a one time opportunity to make the changes that need to happen, because this opportunity -will not come again-. After the release of DR Live there will not be another written edition of the game rules the way that 2024 has been done. Over 1431 labor hours have been invested in less than 10 months by the development team. Its now time for games to step up.

    • Are our game runners, and our players, making the cool environment that makes people want to come to game?

    • Illusions to Civility part 2 has an option for how you can use the kit to either change the design of your local area and for characters to change their Lineages and Strains without needing to make a new character. If you do not follow the guide, you will miss the opportunity for narrative continuity through the change over.

    • In December the story and lore discussion nights will start again. This is open to owners and directors. It is completely optional.

  • Game system updates will be as needed. We need to balance updating a system and developing new content. Some of the feedback coming in is based on personal preference or not having played the game. We need people actually playing the game, and games need to run under LIVE design, before we change systems. Otherwise we fall into the trap of fiddling and not being productive.

  • Item transition

    • Any item that has a 1 to 1 named equivalent will be provided with an item card as if it were crafted on February 1st 2025. It will receive the lesser of the two expiration dates (the original, or, the expiration date as if it were crafted on February 1st 2025)

    • If an item does not have a 1 to 1 match can be replaced with a similar item or in the instance that there is no named item the resource to produce the item IN DR LIVE MECHANICS can be provided. These are the new crafting costs, not the old.

    • Any item without an expiration date (scrap, herb, produce, etc) will be given a 1 year expiration date. Any items not on new item card expire February 1st 2026. This does not apply to expired items.

  • Our society book will have details for how to run and use societies as well as content for our national cross-network groups. This will include how to use national events.

  • Player advocacy. This is the third quarter of this being a subject has been brought up, and its on the branch owners to discuss with their local community how this will work.
